Breakas Beach Resort

14th October 2011

To Our Valued Guest,

It is very important to us as HOLIDAY PROVIDERS that our guests have the best possible stay at Breakas Beach Resort. There are many ways we can help this along and one of them is to openly manage expectations so that Visitors to Vanuatu can appreciate the diversity and uniqueness of our destination. Please read the following information as a guide to assist you in making the best possible choices for your very valuable holiday schedule. Firstly we want you to know what our philosophy is and our commitment to our business and to our guests.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:   To provide the most dynamic ADULTS ONLY Beach Front Property in the South Pacific. What this means in execution is that we are driven to raising the bar at Breakas Beach Resort by constantly measuring and fine-tuning our product and service delivery. We are learning all the time, but what we do know is that we have captured the synergy of what works in a highly competitive marketplace. Breakas Beach Resort has the X factor, and the embryonic growth over the past ten years has encouraged us to stay in the game. We are managed by our guest's expectations, and their comments and experiences drive our performance. We long ago made the decision to keep our prices down so that our guests could experience the luxury of an ADULTS ONLY resort without the elitist price tag usually associated with this type of product. We market ourselves as a 3.5 STAR property, and usually delight our guests with the 5 STAR location. Breakas Beach Resort has captured the vintage glamour of days gone past.... where time stood still....friends got a chance to talk.... lolling on the beach was expected.... and dining in a shamelessly romantic setting was fashionable. As the owners of Breakas Beach Resort, nobody cares more than we do. And try as they might, the atmosphere and magic of our fabulous property has not been repeated anywhere. We are forging ahead to craft the most memorable and welcoming ADULTS ONLY Boutique Resort in Vanuatu.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

ORIGINAL OWNERS TO TAKE BACK MANAGEMENT OF BREAKAS BEACH RESORT

We have had an extremely busy year to date and as you may be aware we have taken the management reins back. As the original owners of Breakas Beach Resort we have a vested interest to make sure that this business does what it is meant to do. Our first priority will always be our GUESTS. To provide an exceptional holiday experience for our guests is WHAT WE LIVE FOR and the daily mantra of our 100+ staff at Breakas Beach Resort. Please be assured that Breakas Beach Resort will continue to provide a secured holiday accommodation and maintain its position as the premier ADULTS ONLY Boutique Resort in the South Pacific.

FARES AND VILLAS TO BECOME SEPARATE PROPERTYS AND PRODUCTS

It is with much pleasure that we announce a new direction in Breakas Beach Resort management and operations. From the 1st of December 2011 Breakas Beach Resort will be separating from the VILLA complex. The Villas will become a separate property from Breakas Beach Resort, with a completely independent management company and they will be called SURFSIDE on Breakas Beach. The new General Manager Samantha Johnson can be contacted directly on email
gm@surfsideonbreakasbeach.com  We are very confident that this is the best way forward to deliver maximum outcomes for each product.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU:

Over the past ten years Breakas Beach Resort has been very active in developing unique accommodation solutions to sell to the happy traveler with destination Vanuatu in mind. We first designed a very pretty fare that captured the romance of a "feet in the sand" holiday. We were overwhelmed with the success of these up-market tribal bungalows, and they steadily gained design recognition for their celebration of Melanesian aesthetic and architectural features. Wholesaler support was the juggernaut that garnered our rise to fame and has nurtured our dream of creating something incredibly special on a white sandy beach in Port Vila. The embryonic growth of the business into 63 fares allowed us to secure our position as the number one ADULTS ONLY Resort in Vanuatu. How can we ever measure our gratitude to our dear Wholesalers?

In 2008 we opened the 3 Bedroom Villas which took our room inventory to a 92 key operation. This was a very exciting time to launch an unprecedented style of accommodation and has proven to be a very popular choice for families and groups. We have recognized the diversity of each product and it is now time for each property to develop independently. We wish SURFSIDE on Breakas Beach every success in the future and look forward to embracing our future as an ADULTS ONLY RETREAT in Vanuatu on the best surf beach in Port Vila.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Why is there no air-conditioning in the Fares (bungalows)?

2. How can I live without a TV and a TELEPHONE in my room for one whole week?

3. Can I access the Internet from Vanuatu?

4. Who, What and Where is Pango Village?

5. How can I help philanthropically speaking?

1. Why is there no air-conditioning in the Fares (bungalows)? Cos you don't need it!! The Resort is located directly beside the Pacific Ocean and has incredibly cool sea-breezes all year long. The author of this website was extremely addicted to air-conditioning, much to the chagrin of all who know her. However, having spent two weeks in a Beach Front Fare I was completely released from my belief that life in the tropics is unbearable without air-conditioning. The Fares at Breakas Beach Resort were designed with timber louvers on all walls to facilitate the cross-ventilation of the direct sea-breezes. I had my A-ha moment when I actually reached for a blanket through the night. Ladies and Gents, it was so refreshing and cleansing, not to have the air-con on. And apart from the very important green aspect, it's actually true what our mothers said -"fresh air is so much better for us". The temperature at night time was actually quite cool, I'd even go so far as to say bring your pashmina! I am a convert.

2. How can I live without a TV and a TELEPHONE in my room for a whole week? I know- very provocative. But have you ever tried it? This is one of the most special treats that we gift to our holiday makers at Breakas Beach Resort. No telephones or televisions in your very own private sanctuary. We made a conscious decision at the outset of creating the resort, to bring into existence a special place where time could literally stop. Think about it. No one can harass you. No one can upset you with the latest tragic news. Of course we have telephones at Reception and we like to remind you to access MOBILE ROAMING before you leave home so you can use your own mobile. BUT, pretend for just one moment that you are still and unhurried. Now we are letting you in on our big secret as to why Breakas Beach resort is so popular!! Our Guests are fully immersed in PEACE and RELAXATION. As for the television, there is SATELITE TV in the Blue Room for all of our keen sportsmen and women who must watch the imminent game. And the atmosphere is fantastic by the beach with icy cold beer in hand. SO please relax over these issues. No Big Deal.

3. Can I access the internet from Vanuatu? Yes you can and we have WIRELESS FACILITIES in and around reception to enable you to access your cyber-world while looking at the sparkling Pacific Ocean! Tres glamorous!!

4. Who, What and Where is Pango Village? We consider ourselves to be very privileged to have the window that we do with a very special group of people. We consider the Ni-Vanuatu People of Pango Village to be an extension of our family as these beautiful folk have been with us from our start in Vanuatu. And this generation of Pango Villagers can tell you about their incredibly rich heritage as they are one of the most vivid, enfranchised and mobilised people and Villages in Vanuatu. Most of our staff are from Pango Village and they are the TEAM responsible for providing an extraordinary holiday for our guests.

From DAY ONE you will be charmed by the shy smiles that greet you as you sip your complimentary fruit cocktail while taking in the spectacular beach front setting of Breakas Beach Resort.

By DAY TWO you will be giggling with your House Keeper as they routinely clean your room every day. These beautiful women are the Mothers and the Sisters and the Daughters of Pango Village and they take extreme pride in maintaining the cleanliness of your Fare. They pick the flowers themselves from their lush gardens and take their time to place the delicate buds around your room. It is done with a lot of love. You must remember that most of these perfect strangers have never left Port Vila, let alone Vanuatu. The occasional shriek of laughter in an unusual setting reminds you that there is a child-like innocence about Ni-Vanuatu people in general. They are very intelligent people, with a vastly different history and life experience than us.

By DAY FIVE you will probably understand what "Sorri Tumas" and "Mi-No Savi" means. "I am so sorry and I don't know what you mean". These are standard phrases in Vanuatu and they summarise the enormous cultural divide of EXPECTATION between first and third world. We undergo intensive training sessions with our staff. We pride ourselves on being very active with the hospitality training school and run our own internal Customer Care programs. All this said, our definition of timeliness with service is challenged in Vanuatu. Life is slow here and to manage your expectations so that you don't waste time being hot and bothered as opposed to going with the flow........we recommend arriving in Vanuatu with a huge dose of humour, a spirit of compromise, and to top it off - a twist of sincere compassion.

DAY SIX will see you starting to panic that your holiday is over and that you have never met a bunch of more friendly, HAPPY people in your life and you may even start to look for real estate!

DAY SEVEN arrives and you will have swapped addresses, be planning your return trip and finalising your list of things to bring back to your favourite Pango Families.

And here-in lies the magic of visiting Vanuatu. We are reminded of how lucky we are in the first world and how humbling it is to share a week in the presence of Ni-Vanuatu people. Breakas Beach Resort supports our neighbouring village and we are mindful of the 800 lives that we impact every day. We ask all of our guests to act with compassion and respect for the Village and recognise that we are in their country....witnessing their lives, their customs, and their fate.

5. How can I help philanthropically speaking? You know, we have had the pleasure of meeting some extraordinary people over the last ten years at Breakas Beach Resort. We are constantly overwhelmed with the kindnesses shown to the people of Vanuatu and everyone wants to know what they can do to help. From Surf Boards to pencils, ladies underwear to gumboots.... you name it, they need it. At Breakas Beach Resort we operate a school fee fund to assist the Families of Pango. Contact RECEPTION to discuss these matters.

It is with sincere gratitude that we thank you all for being so supportive of Breakas Beach Resort over the last ten years.

We hope the above conversation helps to Manage Your Expectations a little better and leaves you with a sense of wonder and curiosity about this exotic place we call home.

Happy Traveler.... Welcome You.... Welcome Home

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Kindest regards

THE Winslett Family
