What's New

The Reef Walk is almost complete and Jonathon is working hard at remembering all the species Karl Fellenius from Vaughani Shores (www.divevanuatu.org) has taught him. This will be a fascinating addition to the activities available at Breakas along with a collection of highly speced foil stunt kites arriving soon. We can't wait! The surf has been pretty good what with the cyclone activity in the South Pacific, which keeps missing us...and as long as they keep missing us we'll be happy. We'll be posting some new images on the site soon too so keep an eye out.

Calendar notes for 2008

This year promises to be bigger than ever for Breakas Beach Resort & Villas. With the completion of The Villas project and the recent opening of additional waterfront fares, we’re ready to welcome more guests to our beautiful resort.

And Vanuatu will be busy too, with loads of sporting and social functions throughout the year. Here’s a few to tempt you throughout the year:

08-14 June 2008 The Vanuatu Marlin Classic – Vanuatu’s only tag and release annual game fishing competition

16 June 2008 Vanuatu Ocean Swim – Port Vila’s premier ocean swim event, entries via the website www.pacificswims.com

17-19 July 2008 Kiwanis PKF Charity Cup – Port Vila’s famous annual racing week. Enjoy a black tie gala ball, entertaining Calcutta and of course the Cup itself. Join 8,000 others at what has become a much loved picnic race meeting, with all proceeds going to local charity projects in Vanuatu.

05-11 August 2008 Vanuatu Golf Open – Join professionals and amateurs from all over the world at this week long event.

Big Thank You

The Team at Breakas Beach Resort & Villas would like to extend a very big thank you to all of the special visitors at Breakas Beach Resort & Villas who have in some way contributed to the community at Pango. Firstly the fact you make the effort to visit Vanuatu is fantastic, as it continues the employment of these amazing people. In the last seven years since we have been involved with this community we have witnessed unprecedented growth in the economy; which at the end of the day results in the essentials of life for the Ni-Vanuatu. One of our lovely guests even went so far to as to donate 16 second hand surfboards! It was a trial to get them here but anyone with a passion for surfing can imagine the impact this has had on our young people in Pango!!

Education, Training & Employment

We have a huge commitment to education and training for our staff and their families. We have a Team of over 89 employees, which represents a large percentage of employment from the local village. We assist in the provision of school fees and also have a school fee fund established to contribute towards school fee assistance. We have gone so far as to commence the construction of a ten classroom school to provide teaching for up to 400 children. Your constant donations of pencils, paper, and books are so invaluable, and make all the difference in the world. Our training schemes for our people have certainly raised the bar for all involved and it is so exciting to see the success that up-skilling and cross-training can do. Courses in ‘back of house' operations: such as MYOB and basic accounting, has enabled our administration to be managed by Ni-Vanuatu. On site training has facilitated the delivery of customer service and hospitality at an international standard. These critical ‘front of house' skills are engineered by many years of combined hospitality experience from our General Manager Michael Johnson, Financial Controller and Chef.

Final Comment
